Constant-Content: Selling Usage, Unique and Full Rights to Your Content

Constant-Content.com is another active income site where clients purchase specific rights to your posted content. There are three options for rights purchasing. Usage rights where clients by the right to use your article. Unique rights are specific rights to your articles defined by you and the clients. Full rights means you sell your article to a client in ghost writing fashion. You get to set your own fees for the three rights usages. However, Constant-Content.com retains 35% of your fees.

Applying to Constant-Content.com

The Author sign-up process is entirely free and pretty simple, too. You will fill out a basic personal information form. Constant-Content is one of the few online writing sites that offer the use of a pen name. I use a pen name at Constant-Content, just because I have never done so and I thought I’d give it a shot. Read through the terms and conditions thoroughly before agreeing. Recently, the site implemented a grammar/spelling quiz that must be passed to be accepted as a contributor. Once you have completed both steps in the sign-up process, you will receive an email with your user name and password.

I recommend reading all of the guidelines, FAQ, and read through the forums to get a feel of what Constant-Content expects of it authors.

Submitting Your Content

Once you have completed your article and have made sure it follows Constant-Content’s guidelines and formatting rules, you must fill out the submission form. This includes not only your full article but title, prices, a short (2 or 3 sentence) summary, a long summary that contains 1/3 of your content and the content’s word count.

Once you have completed the form, you can submit your work where it will be sent to an editor. The editor will review your content thoroughly for guideline, spelling and grammatical errors. If approved, your content is posted. If rejected, you will receive a message outlining the mistakes in your content. You will need to correct all of the issues and fill out the submission form again where the process then repeats itself. You can edit and delete your content as long as it remains in review status.

How Does Constant-Content Work

Constant-Content has various ways to sell the rights to your articles. There are public requests where clients have posted assignments and members can view the details, write articles accordingly and submit them to the posted assignment.

Private requests are also available. If a client has previously purchased some of your work or has viewed your writing style and abilities, then they can submit a private request with specific topic information directly to you. You can accept the request, write and submit an article. You can also deny a request if you feel you cannot to the topic justice.

General posting is the largest part of Constant-Content.com. Here contributing writers can post their completed articles to many, many specific topic areas. Clients then can search through available works and purchase them without submitting a specific request.

Pricing Your Article Rights at Constant-Content

Remember, Constant-Content retains thirty-five percent of your compensation from the sale of your article. When deciding on a price, always keep this in mind when determining the prices. Members have different ways to calculate prices per usage and rights. Some use the pay per word calculation while others use the hourly rate method. You will have to decide what works for you. Keep in mind the site suggests the basic one time usage rate should exceed $7. There is also a “suggested price” link on the submission place if you are struggling with prices.

I take in several factors when determining the cost of my articles. I begin with the time it took me to write, edit and fine tune my article. Then I take into account how many words the article contains. If the article is for public or private request, I check for what type of rights the client wants to purchase and what their price range is. For example, let’s say a client want unique rights for a 500 word article that took me two hours to research, write and edit to their request.

500 words at .03 per word equals: $15

2 hours of writing normally averages me about: $36

Client’s compensation limit is: $20-30

Now, I am not one of those writers who run in, grab the client’s pay range on the high end and let it go. To build clientele, I want to be fair in pricing based on the time it takes to create their requested work, word count and the amount of research I put into it. Also, .03 per word is on the very low end of the pay per word scale but for these types of articles I do not charge my standard per word rate.

$15 + $36= $51      $51/2= $25 for Unique Rights

For unique usage rights to my article, I would charge $25. To figure the usage and full rights, I add and subtract the pay per word fee.

$25-$15= $10 for Usage Rights          $25+$15=$35 for Full Rights

Of course, the fees increase or decrease depending upon each individual article and assignment. There is also an option to allow clients to make an offer for your content. Play around with it and discover what works best for you.

Constant-Content’s Guidelines

It’s worth mentioning that Constant-Content requires contributing writers to adhere to strict submission guidelines. They will reject an article for the even one spelling mistake so complete editing and checking your work is a necessity. Think of your articles as a product for sale. You wouldn’t purchase a product that had obvious malfunctions or errors. Clients are going to feel the same about pieces of works that has errors or doesn’t flow well. Stick to the guidelines and you will have no problems posting your articles.
The guidelines include 12 point font and specific types of font. However, if your article does contain an error and is rejected; the article will need to be completely resubmitted as it is thrown out of the system upon rejections. While your articles are awaiting reviews, you can edit and delete them.

Write your best. Follow the site’s formatting and guidelines for every piece of content you are attempting to post.
There is really good money to be made at Constant-Content. But keep in mind, once the full rights to an article have been sold, you no longer own it.
